General Purpose Telemetry Base Stations

Receiver/Decoders for Implantable & Extracorporeal Biotelemetry Transmitters

General Information

Since the early 1970s, Konigsberg Instruments has developed a diverse mix of fully implantable and backpack telemetry encoders and signal conditioners that work with our chronically implantable sensors.

The encoders transmit the encoded Biotelemetry signals to antennae located within a four-meter radius of the experimental subject. The signals from the antennae are routed via coaxial cable 30 to 100 meters from the antennae to the remotely located Base Station and data acquisition system.

The Base Station is a general-purpose signal processor that will receive and decode the signals from any of our Biotelemetry encoders. It converts the serially encoded signals into parallel analog channels that are then routed to the data acquisition A to D board.

Applications Information - General Purpose Telemetry Base Station

The telemetry Base Stations are designed as general-purpose, software configurable, signal processors. They will decode any Konigsberg Instruments Implant or Backpack transmitter. The current design uses an industrial Rack Mount/Desktop PC Chassis as a platform. Into this, we install one or two TR8-2-2, Dual RF Signal Processors, a TI1-1 controller card, and one to four TD14-10 Decoder cards. Each receiver in the Base Station is tuned to a discrete receive frequency, and up to twenty transmitters may be used simultaneously in the same area without interference.

Standard basestation is shipped with a passive dipole antennae. A programable pre-amplified antennae TR38-2, and antennae power supply/programmer are available for special conditions at an additional charge.
