Fully Implantable Biotelemetry
Since the early 1970s, Konigsberg Instruments has developed a diverse mix of chronically implantable telemetry and sensor systems. They are designed to be permanently implanted within the body in order to facilitate many types of biometric monitoring and medical research.
These implant systems are the preferred way to measure biological signals free of catheter whip, motion artifact, or anesthesia on the research subject. These instruments offer the highest quality dynamic data in free roaming subjects obtainable from any chronically implantable measuring device. Their use virtually eliminates the deleterious effects of pain, stress and confinement on the experimental results.
Subjects may be colony or group housed, and the implants provide reliable signals in enclosures up to four meters3 in size.
The T31 series implant will transmit up to 2 channels of high-fidelity biometric signals. This encoder was designed for smaller research subjects, down to 250 grams. It will transmit One or Two Biopotential Channels (ECG, EMG, EOG or EEG) and Core Temperature. Due to its reduced size and power, the T31 series implant is designed to transmit from within an enclosure up to one meter3 in size, in a group or colony housed environment. Each T31 implant is factory tuned to a discrete transmit frequency, and up to twenty transmitters may be used simultaneously in the same area without interference.
The T31 is too small to use the RF Wand to turn the implant on and off. A thermal switch is used to keep the implant dormant (below 25 ºC) until it is implanted. The T31 cannot be switched off after implantation.
